The Mill Project

The Mill Project is a community-led initiative that hopes to build a new facility where skaters of all ages and abilities have freedom to develop their skills.

The old industrial heritage of the former paper mill has inspired this facility, which would be suitable for skills ranging from beginner to advances for all wheeled sports.

Innovative design will help as many people as possible enjoy these urban sports, either through participating directly, watching others, or bringing young children along to get their first taste of the action.

Once built, a Trust will be required to manage and maintain the facility.

The Trust will need to provide the Council with a viable business plan to release £200k capital funding that will enable the build of the facility. The Trust will then be responsible for the management of the facility to ensure that people can access the facility and take part in wheeled sports; to maintain the facility such as grass cutting, litter picking and that health and safety legislation is complied with.

Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do. Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact on people’s lives. Trustees use their skills and experience to support their charities, helping them achieve their aims.

Anyone interested in becoming a trustee can find out what's involved, or email Swale CVS for information.

Any trusts interested in helping run the park should email the Mill Project by 10 March 2016.
