Letting agent and Property Manager Redress Scheme

Legislation has been introduced which means that from 1 October 2014 it is a legal requirement for all lettings agents and property managers in England to join one of three Government-approved redress schemes.

The 3 approved schemes are:

Failure to do so will result in the imposition of a penalty. Swale has set the penalty at £2500 for a first offence and £5000 for a second or subsequent offence.

Any landlord or tenant can use the scheme to intervene to resolve any grievance. The decision made by the redress scheme is binding on all parties.
