Q1 - What Is The Aim of Your Policy Or New Service?

The aim of the Corporate Training Plan is to have a proactive approach to identifying the training required at corporate, team and individual level within Swale Borough Council and a planned approach to prioritising and delivering the training and development.

This approach to training and development was implemented in 2009-10, and continues with the new plan for 2010-2011.

Q2 - Who Is The Policy Or Service Going To Benefit?

The training and development identified for this financial year will benefit all those who attend the training, as well as those who did not attend but have the benefit of colleagues sharing their learning with them.

The training and development will also bring benefits to teams and the Council as a whole in supporting them to achieve objectives as set out in the Corporate Plan and in Service Plans.

The training will ultimately benefit residents of Swale Borough Council and visitors to Swale.

Answer: Yes

All of the training needs identified at team and individual level have been done so through processes of service planning and appraisals.

For 2010-2011 no new providers will be identified for training. All of our current providers have been selected with a brief which makes reference to Equal Opportunities and ensures that training is delivered within Swale Borough Councils policies.

Training and development activities within Swale Borough Council are open to appropriate community groups to attend and witness when it is directly related to equalities.

As in Q3, the Corporate Training Plan will not have a negative impact on members of the equality groups, and as in Q4 some of the training (particularly the equality and diversity training) will help to promote equality for the equality groups.
