We are very sorry to all those affected by delays to waste, recycling and garden collections as the crews get used to new routes and vehicles. We are working with Suez to improve the situation, and we’re providing updates with latest information.

Brownfield land register

Following legislation which came into force in April 2017, the Council is required to prepare, maintain and publish a register of previously developed (brownfield) land that meets the relevant criteria to be considered appropriate for residential development. There are two parts to the register:

  • Part 1 includes land which has an area of at least 0.25 hectares or is capable of supporting at least 5 dwellings, and for which residential development is considered suitable, available and achievable.
  • Part 2 includes land from Part 1 of the Register that has been though a publicity and consultation process and has subsequently been granted permission in principle.

We don’t currently have any sites in Part 2 of the Register. The Register is reviewed and updated annually.

More information

If you’d like us to consider including a piece of land in the Brownfield Land Register at the next update, you can email our Planning Policy team at Lpcomments@swale.gov.uk. You’ll need to include:

  • A site location plan with the site outlined in red.
  • The current and previous uses of the land.
  • The number of dwellings you consider the site would be able to accommodate.
