Following recent severe weather conditions, your normal bin collections were temporarily revised to catch up on missed green bins. All collections have now gone back to their usual schedule. Please make sure you know when your collections are taking place this week: read our waste collections changes page.

Taxi policy consultation

Have your say on taxi policy

We want your views on whether a new Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy is getting the balance right.

As the licensing authority, public safety is our priority.

This means that we need to make sure drivers are fit and proper, and the vehicles they use are safe. It also means we need to be sure there are enough licensed drivers so people are able to make their journeys without long waits, or the temptation to take unlicensed taxis.

Getting this balance right is not easy, which is why we want people to let us know if they think we have got the balance right.

The proposed policy, when adopted, will provide guidance and information regarding the general approach we will take when carrying out our legal functions. It will underpin the current system and procedures, as well as providing information on best practice and other relevant legislation.

The deadline for comments on the proposed policy is 29 March 2018, and responses can be sent by email, or in writing to: Licensing Team, Swale Borough Council, Swale House, Sittingbourne, Kent, ME10 3HT.
