Watercolours of Skies, Sunsets and Sea
Leysdown will soon see watercolour workshops, where you can learn to paint in watercolours and to capture the natural beauty of Leysdown.
There will be a series of outdoor workshops which aims to capture Leysdown’s skies, coastline and sunset in all their glory, to form a number of watercolours which will go on show in the Kent Cultural Baton on the carnival weekend 31st July & 1st August.
The workshops will be run by artist Cathy Bird, who paints in watercolour. Her work ranges from flower studies, through to landscapes. Her love of colour and movement characterise her paintings.
The workshops are all free but spaces are limited. To book a place please contact Louise Francis either by email at louisefrancis@swale.gov.uk or by phone on 01795 417194. Bookings should be made at the latest by Wednesday 14 July.
All the equipment will be provided, all you will have to bring is a chair, and then you can start painting. The workshops will meet at Leysdown Village and then go on to one of three locations The Spinney, Priory Hill Park and the beach on:
Thursday 15 July 6pm-9pm
Saturday 17 July 10am-1pm
Sunday 18 July 3pm-6pm
Councillor Bryan Mulhern, portfolio holder for culture, said “It will be great to not only have the Kent Cultural Baton in Leysdown, but also to have it filled with paintings of natural Leysdown by people in the community. These workshops will also be a good way to learn something new and even meet new people. It will be good to see all the watercolour paintings together when they are finished.”
