Swale's Big Activity Challenge
Swale Borough Council will be hosting an Olympics open weekend at Callum Park Equestrian Centre on Saturday 24 July. There will be a number of different events, to make it a fun day out for all the family.
Callum Park is a modern purpose built riding centre in Kent. Over the years it has invested significantly in facilities and is an example of one of the UK’s top riding centres, meaning it was able to achieve the Clubmark status.
The centre is a 2012 Olympic partner with Medway council, which was awarded training camp status for 16 of the Olympic sports.
The events include archery which has been provided by Queenborough Archers, horse riding, rock climbing, fencing provided by Sittingbourne Swords and arts and crafts. It will cost just £5 to take part in all five activities. The event is part funded by Kent Sport, Olympic and Leisure Service.
Councillor Bryan Mulhern, portfolio holder for culture, said “The Olympic open weekend is a great run up to the 2012 Olympic games in London. The different activities will be a good way to get everyone involved, as there is something there that will interest everyone, so it will be great way to get the whole family involved. It is also a good chance to see one of the Olympic training grounds.
The Olympic open weekend will take place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 24 July, at Callum Park, Basser Hill, Lower Halstow. ME9 7TY
