Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out our approach for involving the community in the preparation and revision of local development documents and planning applications.

Our draft statement went out to public participation from 28th January to 10th March 2008. Following amendment, it was submitted to the Secretary of State for independent scrutiny by a Planning Inspector. The Planning Inspector is appointed to determine whether the Statement of Community Involvement is 'sound' and to ensure that it satisfies the statutory requirements.

On 14 August 2008, the Council was advised that its SCI was found 'sound'. The Council formally adopted the SCI on 17 September 2008.
