Sports Pitches
The Council are responsible for outdoor formal sports pitches and facilities in many of the parks and recreation grounds in Swale. These include football, rugby, tennis, and bowls.
A number of these facilities although owned or part owned by the Council are managed in partnership with other organisations to ensure the best possible local service provision.
Our grounds maintenance contractor, Blenwood, maintains the majority of the Council’s pitches. There is a full specification of works during the season and reinstatement work is carried out at the end of each season to prepare for the next.
Pitches are booked through the Council or directly with the partner organisation running the facility and the following table lists all the facilities available and contacts for booking.
Before playing, clubs are requested to check pitch availability/ conditions on the pitch hotline.

Swale Outdoor Sports Pitch Strategy
The Council has over recent months been preparing a Outdoor Sports Pitch Strategy, in partnership with Sport England. This has aimed to identify all the football, rugby, cricket and hockey pitches and clubs throughout the borough, including an assessment of condition of the grounds and associated facilities. The strategy will be used to identify the current and future demand and to help the Council, schools and clubs to plan, prioritise and seek external funding to improve facilities.
Further information will become available when the strategy has been fully completed in late 2011.
