Scouts and Brownies Help Clean Up

On Monday evening the Murston and Bapchild Scouts, helped by 8th Sittingbourne Brownies, went litter picking in Murston and helped to clean it up.

They were treated to a visit by the big sweeper vehicle from Verdant. They were able to learn all about how it works and some of them were even able to have a sit inside it.

At 7p.m. the Mayor and Mayoress visited the Scouts and Brownies. They were very keen to speak to all the children and thank them for all the hard work that they had been doing.

The Mayor and Mayoress also really enjoyed the ride they took in the sweeper. The Verdant driver Barry Friend explained the workings to them as they went along.

Whilst the children got on with their litter pick the Mayor and Mayoress were pleased to visit Amicus horizon in Ashtree House and learnt about all the activities and events being arranged for Murston residents.

Malcolm Savill, business Manager at Verdant, said “I was only too happy to help. It is important that we encourage children to do their bit for the environment and to help them to understand.”

Swale Borough Council would like to thank Verdant and Amicus for their help and cooperation in making the evening successful.
