Pick Your Own - Issues and Strategic Spatial Options Consultations
Pick Your Own
Swale Council is preparing its Core Strategy - the most important planning document for Swale. As part of this, the Council is looking for views on its consultation document called Pick your own, which is to published on 17 January 2011. Consultation has now closed.
When the core strategy is complete, it will set out a vision to 2031 and a series of development proposals and policies to achieve it.
Pick your own seeks views about the questions we have to face and the possible direction (or options) that Swale should be heading in. These options consider the amount of development that should take place in Swale and where these homes and jobs should be located. Four options are presented in the document, which includes ideas about expanding the Port of Sheerness, the Kent Science Park and certain villages. Included in two of the options are ideas for a new Sittingbourne Southern Relief Road between the M2 and A2.
As part of Swale Borough Council's consultation under Regulation 25 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2008, the following documents were available for consultation and comment from 17 January 2011:
- Pick your own - The Council's Issues and Strategic Spatial Options consultation document January 2011. This document can be viewed and saved in a pdf via our Online Consultation Portal
- Summary leaflet (best viewed as a printed document)
The Council is required to assess the environmental and sustainability implications of the strategic spatial options contained in Pick your own. These can be found within the Sustainability Appraisal (which includes the environmental report as required by the Strategic Environmental Assessment Regulations) and a separate non-technical summary. The documents can be viewed below (from 17 January).
