Introduction to public spaces protection orders
A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) can be introduced to include restrictions on specific behaviours like drinking alcohol in certain places. They’re usually introduced where anti-social behaviour is:
- likely to have a negative effect on the community’s quality of life
- persistent
- unreasonable
Any form of anti-social behaviour can be considered for a PSPO.
Fines
If you break the rules of a PSPO, you can receive fines of up to £1,000. You can also be prosecuted.
