Planning Services ensures that new development takes place at the right time, in the right location and in the public interest.
Swale Borough Council, Canterbury City Council, Natural England and the RSPB are working together to create a new nature reserve on Seasalter Levels.
The final stage of the strategy to acquire the land is the confirmation and implementation of a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO). Canterbury City Council is undertaking the CPO with the RSPB funding it. This will happen on the 2 April 2014. Further information on the project and details of the CPO are now available.

The target for response times for pre application enquiries will be extended from 10 working days to 25 working days and that the practice of providing a full letter following a pre application meeting will be replaced with a brief and succinct note of all the valid points made at the meeting.
It should also be noted that for a temporary period you may also experience minor delays in Development Management staff responding to enquires and planning application enquiries.
We apologise for any inconvenience that these delays may cause you and assure you that they are temporary and that additional resources are being sought to enable the Development Management service to restore the level of service that you the customer have come to expect from Planning Services at Swale.
