The following documents provide a policy framework for all the council's activities. Some are produced jointly with our community partners. Click on the topic of interest and you will be taken to a brief summary of that document as well as be able to download the document in full.

Anti Fraud and Corruption Strategy
The Council will not tolerate fraud and corruption, and is committed to an open, honest and effective anti fraud and corruption strategy
Biodiversity Action Plan
Our Biodiversity Action Plan explains our plans for managing and leveraging local biodiversity to support and enhance the quality of life and economy in Swale.
Carbon Management Plan 2009 - 2013
We signed the Nottingham Declaration in November 2007 and this Carbon Management Plan is an important element in meeting our obligations. It will also form part of our overarching climate change strategy.
Child Protection and Safeguarding Children Policy
The Children Act 1989 states that the child's welfare is paramount and that every child has a right to protection from abuse, neglect and exploitation.
Community Safety Plan
This 3 year plan details the priorities that the Community Safety Partnership will tackle.
Corporate Equality Strategy
Our community is made up of a diverse range of individuals and groups with differing needs. We need to embrace the differences that we share to encourage tolerance and understanding. This Strategy sets out how we will achieve this objective.
Corporate Plan 2009-2012
This sets out how we will deliver essential services to improve the lives of the people that live, work and visit Swale. Some of the policies and programmes proposed form part of a longer-term view.
Cultural Strategy 2008 - 2011
This strategy, 'Taking Part' represents a new commitment to improving cultural services in Swale and increasing/developing residents' participation.
Data Quality Standard
Reliable information is a fundamental requirement for the Council to conduct its business efficiently and effectively.
Freedom of Information
Individuals have the right of access to information about themselves under the Data Protection Act 1998. The Freedom of Information Act will extend this right to allow public access to all types of information held.
Gambling Policy
Current Gambling Policy and Proposed Gambling Policy which is out for public consultation.
Housing Strategy
Our Housing Strategy document reviews all housing related issues in Swale. It sets out housing aims and objectives, establishes priorities and includes a comprehensive Action Plan.
Living the Legacy (2012)
Local Housing Allowance Safeguard Policy
The purpose of the Safeguard Policy is to set out the Council’s framework for determining the circumstances where payments of LHA will be made to the landlord, instead of the tenant.

Play Strategy 2007 - 2012
Play is a vital ingredient of young people's lives and forms an essential part of each child's culture, quality of life, health and well being.
Protected Disclosure Policy (Whistleblowing)
The Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 places a legal responsibility on everyone to ensure matters of serious public concern can be addressed.
