New Outdoor Gym to be Opened

With outdoor gyms popping up all over the country, Ceres Court, in Murston, will be opening its brand new outdoor gym equipment on 2 July 2010 at 2pm. The outdoor gym was able to be installed thanks to funding from the Big Lottery fund.

This equipment isn’t the first of its kind in Swale, there is already a trim trail at Minster Leas on the Isle of Sheppey and at Warden Bay Village Hall, with similar equipment which is already being well used by the public.

Deanna Cooper, England Women’s Cricket under 17’s, will be there to open the equipment at Ceres Court, along with Swale Borough Council Councillors.

Swale Borough Council is very pleased to be in a position to provide equipment for the older age group, although the equipment will be available for everyone to use, irrespective of age or ability.

Councillor Bryan Mulhern, portfolio holder for culture, said “This equipment is a great addition to Murston, and we hope that it will encourage people of all ages to come and try it out. What’s great about this new equipment is that it can be used by people of all abilities, and we hope that it encourages everyone to be more active.”

The opening of the equipment will have refreshments available for those attending, as well as an opportunity to try and have a go on the new gym equipment, and to see it being put to good use.
