Tuesday January 31

12.45pm and 2pm - Funeral Service And Cremation - The Funeral Service for the Late Mrs Ann Morris, former Mayoress of Swale 2006-08, and wife of Borough Councillor John Morris, will be held at All Saints Church in Eastchurch. The MAYOR, and Mayoress Councillor Sylvia Bennett, will attend. The church service will be followed by cremation at 2pm, at the Garden of England Crematorium at Bobbing, near Sittingbourne.

Wednesday February 1

1.50pm for 2pm - Formal Opening Of New Play Area - The MAYOR, and Mayoress Councillor Sylvia Bennett, will be at Barton’s Point, off Marine Parade in Sheerness, to officially open the new £75,000 Barton’s Point Play Area, situated adjacent to the boating lake and café. Teachers and students from Minster Academy will be in attendance, as students were heavily involved in the design process and created mosaic artworks which have been installed as stepping stones at the new play area. The project, made possible by Big Lottery grant funding, began in 2008 and construction work was carried out by contractor Russell Play, who also donated art materials for the mosaic workshops to create the artworks.

Friday February 3

7.30pm to 11pm - Birthday Party In Aid Of Mayor’s Charities - Leading Cadet Oliver Field, of the Sittingbourne and Milton Regis Sea Cadet Unit, is the Official Cadet to the Mayor of Swale for 2011-12, and has dedicated his 16th Birthday Party to raise money for the Mayor’s Charity Fund for the RNLI, Kent Air Ambulance and Macmillan Cancer Support. The MAYOR, and Mayoress Councillor Sylvia Bennett, will attend the party for family and friends at The Alexander Centre in Preston Street, Faversham. Invitations to the party requested that instead of giving presents for Oliver’s birthday, guests made a small donation to the Mayor’s Charities.
