Local Plan for Swale (adopted 2008)

Our development plan

The Local Plan, or development plan, comprises one or more documents prepared in accordance with legal requirements, independently examined and adopted by the Council. It is also used by the Council to help determine planning applications. The Plan is required to be kept up-to-date.

Our Local Plan was adopted in February 2008.

Bearing Fruits 2031: The Swale Borough Local Plan Part 1- Publication Version (December 2014)

This version of the Local Plan, together with the representations received, were submitted for independent examination in April 2015. 

A Proposals Map accompanies the Local Plan. Note that these have been produced to be viewed at a scale of 1:2500.

Examination in Public

The Local Plan was submitted for Examination in Public in April 2015, along with a substantial evidence base and supporting documents.

The first phase of the Examination in Public was held in December 2015, and the Inspector’s Interim Findings were published during February - March 2016.

Main Modifications to the Plan were published and consulted on during summer 2016. The examination in public resumed on the 31 January 2017 and closed on the 8th February 2017.

Inspectors Report.

Swale Borough Council has now received and published the inspectors report on the examination of the Swale Borough Local Plan. A copy of the inspector report can be viewed here

It is currently anticipated that on the 26th July 2017, the Council will be recommended to adopt the Local Plan, including the Main Modifications agreed by the inspector. This is a meeting open to the public, commencing at 7pm at Swale House. There is no public speaking.

This also includes a list of the Additional Modifications ( SBC/PS/137 ) to be made to the Local Plan, but which do not relate to it's soundness.
