Welcome to Swale Borough Council On line.

Moon. The 'Moon View' art exhibition at the Castle Gallery is a public art project by Stephen Turner. It features a selection of work created by many Swale based artists. A short film featuring line drawings and documenting the Moon View celebration events (held at Elmley), will be shown. The exhibition is open between 11 am and 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays between 15 and 30 November and you can just come along; there is no need to pre-book. Read more.

New and improved 'Do It Online' self service - 'Do It Online' enables you to apply and register for various council services as well as make secure online payments. So if you want to 'Report it, Pay it, Apply for it, Register for it and Request it', then please register for Do It Online access. Note that if you were a registered user of the old system you will need to reregister you details, which only takes a moment.

Sign.A new countywide health and safety initiative called "Common Approach to Kent Enterprise" is to be launched. It is part of a concerted effort by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authorities to work together to ensure workplace hazards are adequately controlled. Inspectors will be visiting various sites in Kent during the initiative and will offer relevant advice but will not hesitate to take enforcement action should safety standards be found to be poor. Read more.

Voice for Swale - A big thank you to everyone who has registered for our Voice For Swale citizens' panel. We are processing applications, so if you haven't already heard from us, we will be contacting you over the coming weeks. Public Consultation - We're consulting on 'Ambitions for Swale', Swale's draft Sustainable Community Strategy. The Strategy sets out a vision of the kind of place we want Swale to be, to help guide services and plans for the future. We welcome your views and comments... View further details.

Dog.Stray Dogs - From 16 October 2008, the council is introducing an out of hours stray dog service. The police will no longer accept stray dogs that are found by the public. Members of the public can now report a stray dog they have found seven days a week from 9 am until 9 pm. An officer from Swale Borough Council will arrange to collect the dog. Further details and contact numbers are available here.

From 1 October 2008 new planning rules apply for householders wanting to 'pave' over their front gardens. The exception is if the paving/driveway will be made of porous materials, or the rainwater is directed to a lawn or border to drain, then planning permission is not required. The new rules are complex, and further information is available on the Planning Portal website. The rules are designed to ensure better control of rainwater running off into roads.
