House to House Collections

House to House collections are regulated by the local authority and you must apply for a permit to make a collection in the Swale area. The Borough is split into three areas: Faversham, Sittingbourne and the Isle of Sheppey. A Permit only covers one area, if you wish to collect in more than one area you must make this clear on your application form and separate permits will be issued.

Important information:

• Only two house to house collection permits can be issued in any area for a particular day.
• Forms must be submitted at least one month in advance of the collection.
• There is no charge for the application.
• Permits cover a maximum of a one month.
• Permits will not cover collections on Sundays.
• The collection must be made on behalf of a registered charity.

Home Office Exemption Orders

Certain charities are granted Home Office Exemption Orders. These charities do not need to apply for a permit but they are required to inform the local authority when they plan to collect.
