Disabled Parking
Disabled Parking
Blue Badge Scheme
Provision of on street parking for disabled people is made under the Blue Badge Scheme. This allows vehicles used by badge holders to park:
- For up to 3 hours on yellow lines, single or double. (This does not apply where loading and unloading is also permitted, or where the vehicle may cause an obstruction)
- Park free of charge for up to 3 hours at parking meters on street and pay-and-display.
Disabled Persons' Parking Bays
Working in partnership with Kent County Council we can provide special parking bays in the public highway for blue badge holders.
It should be noted that the applicant will not have exclusive rights to the parking bay. Anyone holding a valid blue badge may park in the bay.
To be successful in your application you will need to meet specific criteria. For details of the criteria contact our Customer Service Centre.
If you would like to discuss the possibility of applying for a bay or request a disabled persons' parking bay application form, please contact our Customer Services Centre on 01795 417850 or email engineeringhighways@swale.gov.uk.
Swale Borough Council does not charge for disabled persons' parking bays.
If your application is refused and you believe you have exceptional circumstances we do have a process to appeal against the refusal.
