Coastal erosion

Exhibition

In March 2013 we invited Sheppey residents to an exhibition showing maps of coastal erosion on the North Sheppey coast.

A study, funded by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), was conducted to assess cliff erosion between Minster and Leysdown. The study focused on the undefended frontage in order to provide up to date information on future predicted erosion rates.

The rate of cliff erosion is predicted to increase over the next 100 years and the report provides information to enable residents and businesses to plan ahead and mitigate the effects of accelerated climate change and coastal erosion.
