Tattoo Show

The Castle Gallery , Queenborough.
11th March -31st March 2009
Exhibition open Saturday &Sunday 2-5pm

Local tattoo artists will be tattooing the walls of Castle Gallery in Queenborough on Sunday 1 March. The tattooing is part of project run by Swale Borough Council to get local residents interested and inspired in art and culture.

The temporary artwork will see tattoo artists choosing their own space on the wall to put their designs. This is the last stage of the professional’s tattoo work; previous artist’s days took place on Sunday 22 February and Monday 23 February. After the professionals have added their designs, tattoo drawing workshops will take place for 16 to 25 year olds. The workshops will take place over several days in March for young people who want to learn how to design their own drawings. They will then have the opportunity to add their designs to the walls alongside the professional’s drawings.

Nicole Mollett, lead artist said: “We decided to have the Castle Galley tattooed after we noticed it was starting to show its age and had unique features similar to a human body. It’s not everyday you get the chance to tattoo an art gallery so it’s a great opportunity for local young people to get involved with such a fun activity. The end piece will be a large group effort and will hopefully include everyone’s idea of an interesting tattoo design. “
