Ashton
Unearth
is a group show of works by
Bridgette Ashton, David Edwards, Linda Gibson, Dave Jupe, Wendy
Lewis, Nicole Mollett, and Jeanine Woollard. The artists were
asked to respond to the archaeological dig of the castle site in
2005. To coincide with the screening of the time team

Project History
At the end of August
2005 four Artists; Linda Gibson, David Edwards, Bridgette
Ashton and Wendy Lewis did a short residency in Queenborough.
The project brief was to focus on the Time Team’s excavation
of the Queenborough Castle site, and local peoples reactions
to the event.
They were
on site throughout the week, and spent the time gathering images,
photographing, filming, drawing, and thinking about their ideas.
This research was used to feed into the exhibition which
happened March, where people were able to relate
their own memories of the summer dig, to both the artworks and
the programme shown on TV on the 12th March 2006.
The Unearth Lecture

Saturday 11th March
2006
Simon Pratt, David
Hughes, Bridgette Ashton, Linda Gibson, Wendy Lewis and Bob
Eatwell discussed the past present and future of the castle site.
Over 150 people attended the event, and many people were heavily
impressed by the detailed knowledge, and surprising facts that
the Historians and Artists shared.
