Have your say! Help shape Swale

Local Engagement Forums

Otherwise known as LEFs, they provide an opportunity for the public to raise local issues with County, District and Parish Councillors, the Police, Fire Brigade and other public bodies.

The forums, which are discussion groups, are a way to give residents of Faversham, Sheppey and Sittingbourne and their surrounding areas the opportunity to have their say on issues affecting their community with their elected representatives (at County, Borough and Parish levels) and key public sector agencies who deliver services locally.

You can shape the topics discussed and priorities

LEF Attendees

Residents can ask for relevant topics to be added as discussion points at the meeting. The topics are agreed before the meeting takes place. You can send in a question or discussion topic - Contact the Democratic Services Team.

Please title your email 'LEF Topic' and also state if you would like the topic raised at the next Faversham, Sheppey or Sittingbourne LEF. The next sessions are shown below.

Alternatively, you can post your question or topic to:

LEF Topic,
Democratic Services,
Swale House,
East Street,
Sittingbourne,
Kent ME10 3HT.

Please note that depending on when your question is received and the number of topics to be discussed, we may need to raise your item at a later date.

LEF Meetings

We regularly hold forums in each of the high population areas of Swale, Faversham, Sittingbourne and the Isle of Sheppey. We try to keep the meetings as informal as possible and all residents are encouraged to come along and take part in the discussions.

LEF and MRF Grant Scheme

What are the LEF and MRF Grants?

Each of Swale's 47 borough councillors have been allocated £1,250 to support Community Projects in Swale as part of the LEF Community Project Funding Scheme.

Councillors have also been allocated a further £1,000, as part of the Members' Regeneration Fund (MRF) which supports projects in Swale that help to improve the local place or community, making it a better place to live, work or visit.

LEF Circle Style

These grants can be used for stand alone small scale projects or to help match-fund more ambitious ones. So if you have a good idea for a project that helps local communities, please apply and approach your local councillors for advice or come to a Local Engagement Forum to discuss your idea further.

A list of Councillors, listed alphabetically by the Wards they represent, is available via the Council's website, at: Councillor List.

The grant schemes for 2011/12 have now closed.

If you wish to find out about forthcoming grant opportunities please contact our Community Services Team.
